Bicycle (part 2)

You may have noticed that this is my second bicycle post this year which means this form of transportation is becoming more popular. In order to raise more awareness on bicycles though there are going to be bicycle attractions. These attractions include parking spaces, maps, and repair stations. The benefit of riding bikes in specific area include discounts and promotions. Los Angeles will be the first district to do this already having businesses sign to agree with regulations. Institutes and neighborhoods are agreeing to make bicycle riding more popular and friendly. This is a LADOT Bicycle Friendly Business District program.

Stylish Cardboard

Everyone uses cardboard in their own way, but it is odd to see it in the form of a chair. Re-ply has up cycled cardboard into fashionable chairs which are eco friendly and customizable. The designer used his old habits of playing with paper to come up with the idea of a customizable cardboard chair. Not only is this cardboard chair strong enough to support your weight and is comfortable, but also can recline and rock back and forth. when viewing the finished product most people cant believe that it is only cardboard. these chairs are in stores now in two colors of choice: silver or blue. although this product may be environmentally friendly many people as myself would like to be able to chose from a larger variety of colors as well as patterns.

Should the regulated speed limit be changed?

When cars and pedestrians are near it is common sense to suppose that the speed limit is low. Lower speed limits are known to cause less deaths which is very high in big cities. Unfortunately it is the complete opposite, because the speed limits are as high as 40mph. Many cities such as New York were made for walkers and it is the best form of transportation due to traffic. In order to keep it safe for walkers government officials should revise the suggested speed limit.

The UK has more offshore power than any country

The UK has spent lots of money to help the people with offshore wind power. The UK has accumulated enough power to generate 5.7 million British homes. This breaks the worldwide record for wind power. Their water contain more than 1,000 turbines outnumbering every other country and is said to only go up. This is unusual because the US and China have the most water power potential. This is not all good because placing theses turbines could cause water to be polluted. This polluted water could negatively impact surrounding developing countries.

When Mountains Move

It is sad to realize that the future generations may not be able to enjoy the same nature we enjoy now. Water used to be high enough to swim and dive in. now one is lucky for it to rise past their knees. Water has become a wasteland and is full of silt.The mountains are known to the native people as their soul. One can say it is almost like their soul is being taken away.

The Black Mesa Syndrome

After reading the Black Mesa Syndrome by Judith Nies I came across something I never knew. The government is wrong for not giving the people what they are supposed to have. this includes money and land. many people do not know about the black Mesa syndrome which only makes the problem worse. if the people were to know about native americans being removed from their homes and archaeological sites being destroyed a solution can arrive. many promises with the western area were broken because of the black Mesa. more citizens need to know about this topic and try to fix the problems.

Tree Farms

Are there tree farms/plantations in or around Atlanta? Where? What is their purpose?
Yes, at south Atlanta public tree farms. the purpose of this is to provide customers with natural trees.
If a tree farm is planted, what happens if it is not "thinned"?
Properly thinned plants are exposed to more sun and better air circulation, which can help reduce disease problems. It is also easier to get good coverage with pesticide applications.
-Are there old growth forests in or around Atlanta? What products do you use from old-growth forests? 
yes, fernbank forest. flooring and furnishing are made from old growth forsets.
